the phrase is metaphorical & relates to the fact that naturally occuring diamonds are quite ordinary at first glance, & that their true beauty as jewels is only realized through the cutting & polishing process. you are valuable even though you are not cut & polished yet! my wish is that we surround ourselves with this truth!
